Want to win big money for knowing about NSU's history? Now is your chance, with a newly created scholarship program called the NSU IQ Scholarship Quiz. The scholarship is administered by the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation at the Fischler School of Education and is being run in conjunction with the university administration. For a chance to win the scholarship, students will be asked to take a multiple-choice online quiz about NSU.

"The goal of the scholarship is to engage and unite the NSU students and connect them to the university as a whole. NSU has grown tremendously over the years, accomplishing a lot," said Akshat Bhargava, master in international business student and development specialist of the Common Knowledge Scholarship Fund. "We just wanted to make students aware about the university in terms of its resources, services, growth, diversity, athletics, history, schools and programs, which will help them maximize their time as a student as well as further understand how valuable and precious the degree from NSU is….There is so much to be proud of at NSU."

The student who completes the quiz accurately and in the fastest time will win a $3,000 Board of Trustees' Award. The second place President's Award is a $2,500 prize and the third place Deans' Award is a $2,000 prize. These scholarship amounts will be deposited directly into student accounts.

"I already did it. But I think I messed up on one question," said Ronald Mabunga, international student and Ph.D. candidate in conflict analysis and resolution. "It was fun. I actually prepared for it. The money is a great motivation. I noticed that if an initiative has something to do with money, students will participate. I think when I did it [Nov. 11], 98 students had already completed it."

"Yeah, I'm definitely going to do it," said Jeannine Gutierrez, masters in biomedical informatics. "Anything NSU puts together to help me get more money for my tuition, I'm in."

"This is a great opportunity to gain a scholarship at NSU," added Bhargava. "It's an opportunity for students to discover and explore the university's history."

The scholarship is open to all full-time students. However, full-time NSU employees who are also full-time NSU students are not eligible to win. To participate, students must register with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation here.

Round One for the quizzes begins Nov.11-29, round two will be held from Nov. 18-29, and round three will be held Dec. 1-3. For more information contact the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation at (954) 262-8395 or info@cksf.org.
