At this year's CommunityFest, I thought back to the entire week of Homecoming. Does NSU have a sense of community? Often, NSU is criticized internally because of its silos - HPD students hang out with HPD students, law students hang out with law students, and undergraduates with undergraduates. How does NSU gain a sense of community amongst all of these cliques? The marketer in side of me wants to say The Current but I will resist this time.

These different groups of students do have something in common - NSU. That may sound cheesy but at CommunityFest I thought to myself about how generous NSU is sometimes. Where else will you get a huge party with free food, fun activities, and free give-a-ways? Granted as students, I'm sure we helped fund the festival with the money we pay for our tuitions but isn't it nice to have a little something done for us. I know at my undergraduate institution I never had a CommunityFest or anything like it. Clubs and organizations discovered each other, parents got a sense of what NSU culture is all about, and yes the word Shark was said about 1 million times but it was all in good fun.
